A not-for-profit circus for disabled children and those with learning difficulties is coming to Croydon next Tuesday.

Circus Starr will host its annual indoor performance dedicated to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for disabled children and their families.

The show is scheduled for January 16, with performances at 4.45pm and 7pm at The Recreational.

This year's performances will also cater to deaf audience members with a British Sign Language interpreter on board for both showtimes.

The not-for-profit organisation modifies its circus events, so that they are more accessible for the audience.

This includes measures like lowering the volume, dimming the lights, and providing free tickets.

For the first time, the circus is also introducing Sensory Packs for the region.

In cooperation with Sensory Specialist Joanna Grace, Circus Starr hopes to prepare families for any sensory changes they may encounter through what they term as a sensory story.

Fundraising Director Michelle Crossley said: "We love sharing our magical art form with those who usually miss out, so we are really excited to be back on the road with another accessible show!

"Thank you so much to all the businesses who have helped us make a difference in their community."

The show will include several awe-inspiring acts including Lukinha, a clown; Nula Hula with a sensory hoop act, and Sonny Caveagna showcasing his juggling skills.

The organisation relies on donations for hosting their inclusive events and reaches out to local businesses in each area they visit to see if they would like to cover a child’s ticket cost.

The event would not be possible without the generous support they receive from companies around town.

Circus Starr, which has been touring the UK for the past 37 years, conducts their entertaining and accessible shows in 74 towns across the nation, with three tours held each year.

The tickets for the event are free, and are handed out to local schools, charities, and organisations, as well as individual families.
