A 30-year-old has been jailed after a man suffered a fractured eye socket during an attack in Blackburn.

Terrence Kenny attacked his victim, a man in his late 40s, near the Salvation Army in Heaton Street, on March 26.

Kenny punched the man on the side of the head, knocking him to the floor, then rained further blows on him.

The next day, Kenny approached the man in Blackburn town centre, asking him if he had reported the assault to the police.

Kenny threatened him, saying: “If you have, I will do it again. Do you want it again?”

He was arrested by officers soon after making the threats.

Kenny, of Montrose Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court last week to  grievous bodily harm and witness intimidation.

He was jailed for just over two years. The judge handed him a 19-month sentence for inflicting grievous bodily harm and six months for the witness intimidation offence. The sentences are to run consecutively.
