Teen queen misses out in final

Teen Queen contestant Sophie Kinsella strutted her stuff on the catwalk but has missed out on the UK title.

Although the 16-year-old cheerleader for Crystal Palace football club did not win the modelling competition, she said that she had a fantastic time.

She said: “It was a really great experience and if another competition comes up, I’m sure I would do it again.

“All the girls were really lovely. There was no bitchiness at all.”

Sophie, from Coulsdon, had to model on the catwalk and also answer questions about herself.

She said: “I was really nervous. The question bit was the worst.

“They asked how we raised funds for the show and who our favourite celebrity was. I said mine was Angelina Jolie because she adopts orphans from poor countries.”

Sophie’s family and friends were out in force at the teen modelling competition, which took place on August 14 in Milton Keynes.

Sophie said: “They were really supportive and it was great having them there to cheer me on.”

Arr... she'll get over it, and why doesn't her mum adopt an orphan from a poor country if she believes in it ? PC statements are soo cheesy - even for prompted 16yr olds.

Modelling is a job, cr2. When a lot of us were 16, we were studying, and still studying at 18, 19, etc. Each to his own, cr2. If she was my daughter, I would be encouraging the modelling as well as studying in order to get to University.

Sorry CR2 but who's to say this young lady doesn't have a job on top of her modelling and education?

Modelling IS a profession if you're paid for it! Are you saying Kate Moss is unemployed??

This sounds like a "In my day" type comment.

Yes, it does. "In my day, we were so poor we had to sweep chimneys as children and never went to school. Home was a shed in the back garden of the rich gentleman my mother did the cleaning for. We had to get up at 3 a.m. to start work and never went to bed (a plank of wood with straw on top) till 1 a.m." , etc. etc. etc.
