Former London Mayor candidate Brian Paddick is one of a number of high profile gay speakers expected at a series of talks in Croydon.

Mr Paddick, once the highest ranking out gay officer in the country, will be talking about his experiences at a talk organised by Croydon Area Gay Society (CAGS) on October 7.

Following that, on December 2, the speakers will be Allan Horsfall and Ray Gosling.

Ray Gosling is a well known radio and television journalist, and Allan Horsfall was one of the founders of the group that became the Campaign for Homosexual Equality.

Both have been campaigning for gay rights for well over 40 years, and continue their work on behalf of gay people to this day.

And on February 3 next year, Angela Mason OBE, once a radical campaigner and lesbian mother, later head of the Stonewall gay lobbying group, and currently a national government advisor on diversity and equality, will talk from her experience both inside and outside the establishment.

The meetings are free and open to all.

They are being held at 8 pm on the first Tuesday of alternate months, at the Brief pub in George Street, Croydon.

No i'm not your type Tom... best of luck at your gay meeting!! I hope you meet someone and live happily ever after!! rofl!! and as for the lingo - you understood most of it, so I must be doing something right... I thought your attempts to contribute to the news articles were... predictable!!

Predictable is an improvement on Plebeian , I'm going up in your opinions Scoffer.

Can I ask about this onion metaphor you keep using ? I think you're trying to convey a point that your thick skinned and therefore able to accept criticism etc. To refer to yourself as having many skins is a suggestion that you're a complex character or the like which I don't think is true or is what you're trying to say is it ?

1:55pm Mon 8 Sep 08

Tom... ? I'm not here to administer some on-line therapy to those who: A) Don't know me B) Try to think for me C) Act strange once they sit in front of a keyboard!!... I'm in the middle of working at home - I just havn't the time to deal with your "problems" go and speak to Anne when she returns from Tossa or wherever she's gone to... getting back to the real world... does anyone know how to wire up a 2 way staircase switch ? I've removed the top landing switch - but forgot to make a note of the connections!! Arrgh!!

we'll never know the answer to this enigma then. I really was only trying to help out a clearly confused individual. I do feel like we're getting closer though , don't you ?

scoffer, Beckenham says...
2:42pm Mon 8 Sep 08

Arr... yes 'confused' - you mean like calling yourself 'nasty' then trying to be nice ? ...yep... that's it Tom... you're on the right track this time!! rofl!!

I didn't realise that there was a rule for living up to your username ... this is all so new to me. You've missed a couple of things from your name then surely ?
