A Croydon Baptist church is now more accessible thanks to a £5,000 grant.

New Addington Baptist Church, on Arnhem Drive, was awarded the funding by the Veolia environmental Trust through the Lanfills Communities Fund, with the cash used to contribute to the installation of a new pathway.

The work, now completed, cost in the region of £17,000 and will enable wheelchair users and those with disabilities to access the church and community facilities safely and easily.

The church is also an important venue for several church groups including parent and toddler groups, youth clubs, a woman’s afternoon group and a support group for people suffering with mental illness - making it an important venue throughout the week.

Church Secretary Vic Overton said: “We are very pleased that the building is now more accessible to community members who regularly benefit from the various activities held here.

“We are extremely grateful to the Veolia Environmental Trust for all their support.”
