UFOs spotted over Thornton Heath

The truth is out there, and it is hovering above Thornton Heath.

A woman in her sixties claims she has seen mysterious lights above her Thornton Heath home for nearly a month.

Every night the Trafford Road resident sees the unexplained orbs high above the flight path of airplanes, hovering for hours at a time.

The woman, who asked not to be named, claims the unidentified flying objects are circular in shape and have a series of flashing lights very different to that of mainstream terrestrial aircraft.

The concerned resident said: “I can’t beleive no one else has seen these things.

"They are here almost every night. I just don’t know what they are.

"They fly higher than airplanes but they don’t move like any aircraft I have ever seen.

"Sometimes they hover, very still and sometimes they dart about the sky.

“My sister told me that I should get in touch with someone to tell them I just don’t know who to speak to.

"The lights only ever appear when it is dark."

A Ministry of Defence spokeswoman said: “The MoD examines reports solely to establish whether UK airspace may have been compromised by hostile or unauthorised military activity.

"Unless there is evidence of a potential threat, there is no attempt to identify the nature of each sighting reported."

Maybe it's Brian in an un-piloted drone checking out Croydon on behalf of Worthing Borough Council? For those purists who may write "how can Brian be in an UN-piloted drone?" the answer is,with Brian anything is possible.

Actually guys, im not crazy neither do I need glasses, but maybe there is a ufo. I mean I don't believe in them myself anyway but for the past couple months above forestdale there ia a massive light (could be a star but i think it's too big and bright for a star). It wud stay for hours on end and sometimes have flashing blue sometimes red lights.

Well - we live in Selsdon Vale, which is next to Forestdale and we would be able to see it if it was really there. Some of these people need to cut down on their alcohol intake, I think.

If the informant lives in Trafford Road she's probably under the effects of passively smoking ganga.

No - it would have been a waste of time!!

As Chairman, of Croydon Astronomical Society I get several requests a year from members of the public about UFO sightings. In the last couple of months a few people have reported seeing a bright light in the western horizon. Brighter than most stars. This bright light is the planet Venus; which often confuse people. In this particular case I do not think it is Venus. Whether this was a UFO sighting, I do not know.

There's plenty of cases of 'Alien' in Lunar House.

Bob is certainly correct. The International Space Station (ISS) does confuse people as well. It is one of brightest man made objects that crosses our skies from time to time. The space shuttle can also be extremely, when passing overhead.

There's a shuttle launch to the ISS at 0120z Thurs 12/03/2009. If anyone with a scanner wished to listen to the comms direct then tune 259.7MHz AM mode and listen until 0200z. There's only around a five minutes window but use of a telescopic antenna - or a helical outside will give good results.
