A shipshape new play area will take its maiden voyage this weekend.
A carved wooden story boat is at the centre of a new play area at Morden Hall Park.
On Sunday at 11am the site is due to be officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and day of activities for all the family.
The boat has been designed and carved with the help of children and parents from Liberty primary school in Western Road, Mitcham.
This week a National Trust spokesman said: “The boat illustrates past industrial and natural history stories about the river Wandle which runs through the 125 acre wildlife haven. Fixed on dry ground, it will be big enough for everyone and anyone to climb aboard.”
