A schoolboy was robbed of his mobile phone on a train.

The 15-year-old was confronted by a man who claimed he was carrying a weapon during the incident on Monday May 18.

CCTV images have now been released of the man detectives would like to speak to about the robbery on the 11.28am service from Wallington to West Croydon at around 11.30am.

The suspect got off the train at West Croydon.

British Transport Police DC Dan Arundell, of the London South Area Robbery Squad, said: “The victim, a 15-year-old schoolboy, boarded the train at Wallington when the suspect, a mixed race man aged between 18 and 20, indicated he had a weapon and demanded the victim’s belongings including his mobile phone and oyster card.”

“Although a weapon was not seen, this was a very frightening experience for the boy.

“Anyone who recognises the man in the images or who witnessed the incident is encouraged to get in contact with Police.”
