Cobham 0 Old Mid-Whitgiftian 43

Old Mid-Whitgiftians were obliged to play two away games this weekend. They thrashed Cobham in a London Two South game on Saturday but crashed out of the Surrey Cup at Guildford on Sunday.

Saturday's league encounter was a one-sided affair against a Cobham side that Mids had beaten 46-0 two weeks earlier at home. This game followed a similar pattern and ended with an almost identical scoreline, this time ending 43-0.

Mids opened the scoring after just three minutes when Simon Ellis dived over the line. Neal Chamberlain converted.

Mids dominated play on a heavy pitch and scored at a rate of a point a minute for the first 24 minutes of the match.

They played entertaining rugby and showed slick handling. Ellis's try was followed by scores from Grice, Shillabeer and Anderson, one of which was converted by Chamberlain.

James Grice touched down for his second try in the corner. This was followed by a forwards' try finished off by Aidan Murphy, and finally, Simon Ellis ended the game as he had begun it with a try under the posts.

On Sunday, the Cobham game had clearly taken its toll and Mids were beaten by Guildford 22-0.

On Saturday, Mids take on Richmond in a league match at Sanderstead.
