Neil Warnock has given his misfiring Crystal Palace players extra striking practice in a bid to end their first-half hoodoo.
The Eagles have now failed to score in the first half of any game since March, a run stretching back 16 matches to Shefki Kuqi's seventh minute strike against Barnsley at Oakwell.
While Warnock admitted he knew of the statistic, he also revealed he was unsure what was causing it.
"I'm aware of the statistic," he said.
"I think the only time we scored in the first half was at Bristol City and a lot of good that did us.
"I have no idea why that is happening, I don't think we are starting slowly, it's just that we don't put enough chances away.
"The players did some more striking training yesterday and did quite well but it is putting that practice into action on the pitch where we seem to struggle."
