Three teenagers have been charged with manslaughter after a man was killed in what police say was a homophobic attack in Trafalgar Square.
Ian Baynham, 62, who was about to start work at the UK Border Agency in Croydon, was attacked as he travelled into London for a night out with a friend on September 25.
The pair were walking past the South African Embassy at about 10.45pm when a woman allegedly shouted homophobic abuse at them.
She was joined by another woman and a man, and the resulting argument saw Mr Baynham, from Beckenham, punched and kicked.
He suffered severe brain damage in the attack and died from his injuries on October 13.
Joel Alexander, 19, from Thornton Heath and two 17-year-old girls, one from Thornton Heath and one from Penge appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today.
