Croydon Freedom pass holders must renew their pass by March 31, 2010 to continue to benefit from the scheme.
The pass which allows Londoners aged 60 and over to travel free on public transport, will have a few changes.
The new cards will now include a photograph of the owner, be valid for five years and be subject to regular checks by the local authority.
Instead of being available over the counter it will take up to ten working days to be provided.
Application forms for renewal will be available from January 2.
This year Croydon council has invested £7.5million on behalf of its residents towards the Freedom Pass scheme.
Councillor Mike Fisher, leader of Croydon Council and chairman of London Councils' transport and environment committee said: “The freedom pass is a wonderful example of boroughs working together to improve the lives of older and disabled members of our community.”
