Prime Minister Gordon Brown has honoured Streatham's major arts and cultural event, the Streatham Festival, at a reception at 10 Downing Street.
The festival, and its chair Patricia Sauer, were praised as part of a special Community Heroes reception held on October 21 for organsiations and people who have made an invaluable contribution to the life of their communities.
The Streatham Festival was selected by Labour's parliamentary candidate for Streatham, Chuka Umunna.
Mr Brown said: “Chuka has told me about the massive contribution the Streatham Festival has made over the last seven years to the life of Streatham, with over 10,000 people attending the festival this year.
“I congratulate and thank Patricia and all those involved with making the festival the huge success that it is.”
