A little boy who was on a shopping trip with his father has slipped on excrement left on the floor of a supermarket.

Cassius Frantis, 3, was walking alongside his father, Sam, at Asda in Wallington, when he slipped on a pile of excrement that had been left on the floor in the middle of the store.

According to Mr Frantis, an electrician from Wallington, his son was covered in it and crying and after cleaning him up he called the store manager to complain about the incident.

He said: “He was covered in what looked like human excrement from head to toe.

"It went all over his face, mouth and hands and I had to take him to hospital afterwards, just to make sure he wasn’t going to get ill with anything from it. It was disgusting and he’s still a bit shaken.”

After asking for the manager, Mr Frantis said the floor was in the same state for at least 15 minutes.

He said: “I couldn’t believe they left it there for the whole time I was waiting for the manager. I had to stand there and warn other people not to step on it.”

According to Mr Frantis, he eventually got an apology from a manager who was unable to explain how or when the spillage was left in the middle of the shop.

A spokeswoman from Asda said: "We are shocked and appalled that someone would do this in our store, it's outrageous behaviour.

"As soon as we were alerted to the situation, our priority was to look after Cassius and close the aisle for immediate cleaning.

"We can only apologise to Sam and to his son Cassius on behalf of the person that did this.

"If there is anything else that we can do then Sam should feel free to get in touch with us anytime."
