Yet another year is drawing to an end, but let’s not forget what there still is in store for us all. Just because Halloween is for one day, doesn’t mean we should celebrate it for one day only!

The name “Halloween” is actually shorted from “All Hallows’ Even” and is celebrated every year on the 31st October, the eve of All Saints day. It originated from Ireland but is now more widely celebrated. This is done in a variety of ways and activities including the traditional trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, costume parties and watching horror movies amongst other things. So with Halloween just around the corner, why not make use of this half term opportunity and opt for something fun and festive to do this week with the little ones? There are plenty of great themed events going on in the borough, for free!

Halloween Storytime will be held at Heston Library and a Rap & Rhyme for over 5s workshop at Hounslow Library, both from 2:30pm on Thursday 29th. It will be for children of any age and, of course, is completely free of charge!

But if you’d rather get more creative, then join Feltham Library for a 2 hour mask making “Mask Drop-in” session earlier on the day, from 10am – 12pm, for 3+. Or Bedfont Library, for a Halloween Craft hour, from 10:30am – 11:30am, open for children of all ages. There is a Creepy Crawly Craft class at Chiswick Library from 11am. This also, is for children from 3 and over and each event will cost a mere 50p!

If you’ve missed out on the Thursday, then do not fret! There is another crafty group on Friday 30th at Brentford Library. Just drop in to the Halloween Craft Drop-in session with 50p and you’re all set!

Looking for a more family-type event? Cranford Park offers a spine-chilling evening from 6:30pm on the night of Halloween. If you dare to turn up, feel free to be in costume! The ticket prices are as follows: Adults - £3, Under 16s - £2 (although must be accompanied with an adult).
