Hounslow Wanderers made up for their injury time league defeat to Singh Sabha Slough seven days earlier and booked themselves a Middlesex Premier Division Cup quarter final tie with Marsh Rangers, writes Vip Mair.

The Purple Haze were quick off the blocks to avenge for a 93rd minute Singh Sabha winner by forcing the play in the early stages.

After four minutes a neat passing move lead to Harmeet Dhaliwal providing the easiest of chances for the advancing Wayne Harvey to make it 1-0.

The Purple Haze continued to pile on the pressure and broke through for a second on 15 minutes when the man-of-the-match Rickey Casse provided a clinical ball to the unmarked Mike Wilkinson to make it 2-0.

As half-time approached Wanderers squandered a number of changes to put the tie out of reach.

Singh Sabha started the second half as they ended the first, totally disjointed and with no real game plan.

But credit to the Slough side as they continued to try and midway through the second half reduced the deficit with a decent effort which on most days would have been a bread and butter save for Wanderers keeper Greg Egdhill.

Wanderers’ number one was again in the spotlight when a clear foul was not spotted by the match officials and allowed Singh Sabha to equalise.

As the match looked like heading for extra time Vip Mair made tactical change which paid dividends and within minutes Harmeet Dhaliwal provided a well balanced pass for Wayne Harvey to hammer home a 20 yard screamer with only five minutes left to play.

Match referee Robert Was commented “This was a well contested match and both teams deserve credit for their behaviour.

"Please pass on my thanks to both teams for an occasion we, as officials, were pleased to be part of”.

The Purple Haze will be back to league action next week taking on North Kensington, who beat them to the Division One title in the last game of last season.
