Police have applied for planning permission to open a police counter in Hook Parade.
The safer neighbourhood base for the Chessington North and South team, led by Sergeant David Boyle and Sgt Jon Truelove, would be to the right of the Debra charity shop at 389 and 391 Hook Road.
The base would not be used for charging or holding offenders or for police vehicles but would help the force meet its “urgent operational requirement” of setting up a safer neighbourhood base in each parliamentary ward.
Officers would be expected to get there by public transport, foot or bicycle if councillors grant planning permission.
At the moment the PCs and PCSOs operate out of Surbiton police station, a mile and a half away.
