Students spent an evening with Bafta winning actress Imelda Staunton, last week.
The Norwood School pupils took part in a question and answer session arranged by Filmclub and the London Student Awards.
Filmclub is a nationwide scheme started in 2008 that provides school children with free access to both classic and popular films and film industry talent.
Imelda, who is well known for films like Nanny McPhee and her role in the Harry Potter series, spoke to them about the film industry.
She said: “You really hope that something like this helps expose kids to different films.”
“We all go and watch films that we like, but actually it’s quite good sometimes to watch films that you might not be drawn to.”
The initiative is run in conjunction with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the awards highlight creative and talented young people.
The event took place at Kingsdale School in Dulwich.
