Crystal Palace captain Shaun Derry insists he and the rest of the squad are fully behind the club, despite not being paid on time for the second month in a row.

Players and staff were supposed to be paid last Monday but were told after the Watford game there would be a 10-delay due to chairman Simon Jordan suffering cash flow problems.

The latest news is the wages should be paid by the end of the week and, speaking in the club's matchday programme for Saturday's game against Doncaster, Derry was adamant the lack of money would not distract the team.

"First and foremost we, as a group of players, are at Crystal Palace Football Club to put on performances for ourselves, the fans and the club," said the midfielder who turned 32 yesterday.

"None of the reports that have emerged will have any bearing on our commitment to this club and they will not interfere with how we will go about our jobs as professional footballers.

"The lads that we have here are a very honest bunch of guys who pride themselves in their professionalism on and off the field, and no matter what restrictions or hurdles we may face you can rest assured that we are only fully focussed on the forthcoming games.

"I would like to encourage all of you, as our fans, to jump on board and work together with us as a united group to take the club forward."
