Young people could be calling the shots at Merton Council thanks to a new ‘participation promise’.
The pledge is designed to give children and teenagers a say in how the council provides services for them.
Its promises to young people include “we will involve you more in making decisions about how we spend our money” and “we will make sure that there are places and times where you can tell us what you think”.
The council’s cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Debbie Shears, said: “It makes perfect sense for young people to have a say in the development of services which will directly affect them and their families.”
The promise will be published in posters and leaflets, and is available online at merton.gov.uk/participation_promise.
