Screaming girls dominated the lobby of the Dome Cinema in Worthing as I walked in to find out the latest film releases. Each girl was striving to grab hold of one of those highly anticipated sought after tickets to see the opening night of New Moon.

For those of us not female or aged ten to sixteen the title or film New Moon probably has no meaning what so ever. I asked my sister about the film and she soon cleared my confusion, "New Moon is the second book in the twilight series. It is a series about a girl falling in love with a vampire. The vampire then leaves her and the girl is heartbroken."

To me this film sounds just like another 'chick flick' in which and ordinary girl and a "super hot guy" both fall in love with each other and then start dating. The story of New Moon sounded vaguely familiar to another movie that I had recently been forcedly dragged along to. High School Musical.

It seems like our cinema screens are gradually being bombarded by young people's 'feel good films'. Why is this? There must be something that seems to appeal and attract young people and girls in general to watch these films. I sure do hope that it is a while before another one of these films comes out as I am dreading being pulled along by my girlfriend to sit and endure two full hours of torture.
