A pair of petitions hoping to restore vital points to administration plagued Crystal Palace FC have attracted just 750 signatures.

Croydon Central MP Andrew Pelling has been calling for people to sign the petitions for three weeks after the Football Association ruled the side should be docked 10 points.

The Selhurst Park based club, which competes in the second tier of English football, has been left hovering on the edge of the relegation zone following the deduction.

Mr Pelling’s petitions describe the points deduction as “palpably unfair”, as the club did not seek administration itself but was pushed into the situation by creditors Agilo.

It states: “The undersigned call upon The Football League to remove or reduce the points penalty meted out to Crystal Palace Football Club, which unlike many other clubs penalised for going into administration did not seek to use administration as a means of improving the competitive advantage of the club, and call upon Lloyds Banking Group to support the transfer of Selhurst Park back to Crystal Palace FC.”
