A new Croydon fusion restaurant already has its sights on expanding nationwide.

India Dining “is one of a kind”, offering the best of modern Indian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist – all dishes on the menu are served tapas-style on mini platters.

It’s thanks to this unique concept that just four months after opening in the House of Fraser food court, India Dining is doing a roaring trade.

This is local restaurateur Asad Khan’s third venture in the trade, following restaurants in Warlingham and Esher of the same name.

Manager Sabrina Kurz, 22, says the company cannily spotted a gap in the market: “House of Fraser’s food section was suffering.

“They were looking for something new and fresh. We’ve brought many more customers here now, it’s much busier than it was.”

India Dining is now looking at other potential sites in Central London, including Oxford Street and Victoria.

Miss Kurz said: “We’re not looking outside of London at the present time, but who knows what the future holds.”

New branches would also be based in Houses of Fraser food courts, as many customers tend to be “lunchtime shoppers, and mothers bringing their children in for a meal after school”.

At present India Dining’s Croydon branch seats sixty people, and there are no plans to change this format.

She said: “It’s a simple idea that works well. We have a quick turnover of people and 12 staff, which means we can really focus on our top priorities - good food and good service.”
