Manager Micky Reid can at last have a smile on his face as his side Croydon FC won 1-0 at Burgess Hill Town and that after a thumping 4-0 defeat at Met Police in midweek.
Croydon's goal came in the second half from Ashley Martin, a goal that was to bring a much-needed victory but still not enough to take the Trams off the bottom.
Whyteleafe also had a much-needed win this time at home to Banstead Athletic 1-0. The only goal of the game came after 11 minutes when Mark Tompkins volleyed home.
Wimbledon AFC kept up their unbeaten run with a 3-1 home win against the improving Hastings United. AFC are six points clear at the top this early in the season.
Croydon Athletic came away from Met Police with a 3-3 draw but should have taken the points with a Barry Stevens hat-trick, but the Met Police hit back with two goals in the last 10 minutes to share the points.
There was also a draw for Dulwich Hamlet away at Tooting and Mitcham 2-2. Hamlet had a last minute penalty saved to be denied the win.
