Old Whitgiftians 20
Streatham-Croydon 10
A lively local derby against Streatham-Croydon saw Old Whitgiftians win for the first time in Surrey League One this season.
Whitgiftians started strongly and after five minutes created room for Giles Dempsey to score a try in the corner.
Streatham countered but missed a penalty. OWs then created a second try when a well-timed pass by Leslie Todd made room for Richard Kiddell to score in the corner.
Just before half-time Dempsey burst from his blind-side wing to score under the posts. Coletta converted to give the OWs a 20-point lead.
The second half went mainly Streatham's way and their backs capitalised on a bad mis-kick to put Jon Milward over in the corner. Ten minutes later Milward scored again in the corner, the acute angle too difficult to convert.
