From Sloane Square to Stratford, 3,000 children across London will perform Shakespeare in some of the capital's most prestigious theatres from October 4 to October 22.

As part of the Shakespeare Schools Festival the UK's largest and fastest growing theatre celebration 126 schools will perform abridged versions of some of the greatest stories ever told. Students aged 11-16 will produce unique interpretations of the playwright's classics.

The Ashcroft Theatre, Fairfield, Croydon, has four local schools staging their half plays on Tuesday, October 19, and Wednesday, October 20. Performances start at 7pm and tickets are £8 from the box office on 020 8688 9291.

The Churchill Theatre, Bromley, presents the festival on the same days as the Ashcroft Theatre, from October 18 to October 22, with performances at 7pm. Tickets are £8 from 0870 060 6620.
