An appeal has been launched to find the owners of a neglected alleyway in Coulsdon town centre.

The council wants to use money from Transport for London to resurface the pot-holed alleyway which runs behind Lion Green Road and the shops in Brighton Road.

But the council could be stopped in its tracks as, ideally, it needs the landowner's permission before it starts work.

The most recent land Registry records show Mrs Diana Lilian Burridge, Barbara Ann Allison and Alan Pearson as the owners in 1976, but efforts to trace them have been unsuccessful.

Now the council is appealing to Guardian readers in its search. Anyone who may be able to help the council trace the land owner should call Lee Longhurst on 020 8686 4433 extension 62252.
