Four food shops in Thornton Heath have signed up to a voluntary code of conduct to keep the streets clean.
Wimpy, McDonald's and two Tesco Express stores in the area will be carrying out litter patrols up to 100 metres from the entrances to their shops to reduce the amount of food and packaging dropped on the streets.
The code has been created to provide advice on waste management, food hygiene and is designed to help food operators and the council reduce litter without incurring prohibitive costs.
Businesses interested in finding out about the code should call Mark Pinnock on 020 8253 2715 or email mark.pinnock@croydon.gov.uk.
