Pupils at Chipstead Valley Primary School have recorded a song to raise money to help the survivors of the tsunami in south-east Asia.

Music teacher Jonathan Vinter wrote the song Bring the World Together after watching events unfold on television over the Christmas holidays.

He was inspired by the response from people around the world who have united to help those affected by the tsunami rebuild their lives and homes.

He said: "I felt it was important for the children to see a way forward from the disaster and gain a sense that they could make a tangible difference to the plight of these people. Singing this song to raise money has enabled them to do this."

All 470 pupils at the school in Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon, packed into the hall to record the song on Friday, January 14.

The proceeds from the sale of the CD, which went on sale at the school on Monday priced £4, will be donated to Unicef, to help the millions of children who lost families or were affected by the disaster.
