Like Ronald Howard and Margaret Thompson (Croydon Guardian, January 12) I too am heartily sick of having my hearing assaulted with so-called music in shops and restaurants.
It would be bad enough if it was music of my choosing but it isn't even that.
No longer is it a pleasure to browse in a shop and possibly spend money on something I had not planned to buy.
Having bought what I went in for I make a quick escape from the intolerable noise before I become even more irritated and start throwing things at what seems to be the source of the din.
More power to Ronald, Margaret and Pipedown.
