Two new sponsors have signed up to support this year's Croydon Champions campaign.

Khana Peena Indian restaurant and Tramtrack Croydon Limited are the latest companies to join the campaign which rewards the borough's unsung heroes and champions Croydon as a great place to live and work.

They are the sponsors of the Act of Bravery and Team of the Year categories.

Abdul Khalique has been in the restaurant business for more than 27 years and owns the Khana Peena with his three brothers.

He said: "It the campaign is good for the community. We are living in Croydon and want to see that Croydon is happy and peaceful."

Roger Harding, general manager at Tramtrack Croydon Limited, said he was delighted the company was supporting Croydon Champions.

"Croydon and the surrounding area is an exciting place to live and work these days. There are so many developments underway and planned for the future that we see major opportunities for businesses and residents alike.

"We chose the category of Best Team because we see ourselves as part of a team to support the area (and championing Croydon in our own way) and want to see being in a team' recognised as a category in its own right. We look forward to seeing how people feel that their team is championing Croydon."
