Purley John Fisher 2nd 27
Old Walcountians 22
A second-half comeback by Old Walcountians was not sufficient to overcome Purley John Fisher last Saturday.
The first-half was largely dominated by the home side, who used their larger pack to dominate possession and score three tries to hold a 15-0 half-time lead.
The match looked lost for Walcountians four minutes into the second-half when PJF's hooker drove over for a try. But two minutes later Walcountians started their revival, when Chris Drinkwater scored tries in quick succession, the first on 49 minutes when the forwards won a ruck in the PJF 22 to start a three-quarter move, and the second five minutes later after a tap penalty.
The hosts added a further try on 20 minutes as their forwards drove over from a maul, but Walcountians refused the give up as centre Adam Dring crossed for a try on 64 minutes after linking with scrum-half Andy Boivin in a tap-penalty move.
Walcountians had the final say in stoppage time when Chris Drinkwater completed his hat-trick of tries by outpacing the PJF defence to run onto a cross-kick from centre Luke Durkin, but it was not enough as the hosts held on.
