Warlingham finished their Powergen Surrey Division One campaign with a well deserved win at Kingston, where they denied Old Tiffinians a place in the end of season play-offs.

The visitors immediately put Old Tiffinians on the back foot as they were forced to give away a penalty which Mark Kozminski converted, before he suffered a hamstring injury had to be replaced.

Warlingham increased their lead with a second penalty which scrum half Ollie Doe slotted between the posts, to give the visitors a six-point advantage at half-time.

After the break, Tom Street ripped possession from the homeside and the ball was popped up to lock forward Ed Shuttleworth who scythed through the defence to score a well worked try under the posts. Doe took the easy conversion.

Tiffs threw everything they had, but their reward of a well-worked converted try did not come until the final whistle.

Old Walcountians had a storming end to the 2005-06 season when they overran Reigate in a thrilling encounter at Clock House.

The hosts took the lead after 15 minutes against the run of play, when the Old Boys pack secured the ball to put the three-quarters away and winger Chris Drinkwater passed inside to centre Ollie Beales who crossed for his 13th try of the season.

Ten minutes later Reigate were in the lead after a try from a tap penalty by their inside-centre and although Beales helped Walcountians take the lead again with a penalty in the 27th minute, the visitors were back in front with a six-point lead after their inside-centre broke through the Walcountians cover and put his fellow centre in for a converted try.

On the brink of half-time, Walcountians full-back Dean Charnock scored an unconverted try to put the Old Boys within one point of Reigate’s lead.

The second half saw Walcountians turn the tables on the visitors and they steadily began to build up an unassailable lead through two Ollie Beles penalties and tries from Luke Durkin, Richie Fairchild, Sam Naylor and Graham Lester.

The game was also the final one covered by Walcountians’ press officer, Rob Murphy, who is standing down after 15 years in the post.
