Twenty-year-old Dominic Lesniewski says he "couldn't live without motor racing".

The Lincoln University student, who has competed at circuits including Brands Hatch and Silverstone, has been racing professionally since 2001.

"The week before a race, all you feel is anticipation and nerves," says the Arsenal FC supporter. "Once you're in the car, the nerves change entirely. It feels like you are entering a completely different world."

Dominic, from Shirley Road, Croydon, had his first taste of motor racing at 13 when his dad bought him a Formula TKM kart, which he raced at Buckmore Park in Kent.

In 2003 he became the youngest person to win the Global GT Light Championship, achieving 14 pole positions, aged 17.

Now he drives a Juno SSV6 car, similar to a Le Mans racing car, in an endurance-style competition called Britsports, as well as studying media studies.

Dominic says he hopes to use his degree alongside his racing career and hopes to set up a company where customers can pay to be driven around a race track by a driving instructor in a car of their choice.

Although Dominic is devoted to his sport and admires the success Michael Schumacher has enjoyed, he has no desire to enter Formula One himself, as he believes "there is too much politics and money involved".

Instead he has his sights set on one day competing at Le Mans. "My career aim is to participate at the very top of endurance racing. My Holy Grail would be the Le Mans 24 hour race," he says, "although I am also very keen to take part in other big competitions in endurance racing."

Dominic has, so far, avoided any accidents while racing and contrary to popular opinion, he says it is very hard to sustain an injury if you do lose control of the car as they are so well-developed. "Unless you're really stupid," he adds.

His next race tournament will be at Silverstone on September 9 and 10.

"I am very optimistic," he says. "Normally I share a race with another driver in a team but this time I hope to do a solo drive, which will be good for my career."

Dominic, who will be driving a Juno SSV6, sponsored by Drain Doctor, is hoping to come first or at least win a podium position.

He is also eager to take part in the 24 Hour Willhire race over the same weekend but needs further sponsorship to raise the £10,000 to compete. If you or your company is interested in sponsoring Dominic call 020 8405 1081.
