Rose Gedney, head of geography at Royal Russell School in Croydon, bounced the day and night away last Friday to raise almost £5,000 for Cancer Research.

In the past she has a sky dived and competed against British tennis ace Tim Henman to raise money for charity. For 24 hours last week she and her pupils bounced continuously on a trampoline.

Ms Gedney, who lost her father, her tennis partner and a close friend and colleague to cancer last year, said: "I have been training hard to see if I can master bouncing from the trampoline on to the headmaster's lap!"
