Croydonians will get the chance to hear about life in the army this Friday as soldiers from the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (PWRR) roll into town.
As part of a recruitment campaign, the PWRR soldiers also known as The Tigers' will discuss the role of their regiment and provide an insight into military life.
Sergeant Wayne Preston, army careers adviser for Croydon, said: "This is a great chance for everyone to meet the soldiers and really get an understanding of life in the army.
"The army is committed to developing individuals' skills as well as offering continual opportunities for personal development, through training, lifestyle, sport and travel."
Travel was the main reason why Warrent Officer Dave Lear MBE a former pupil of Haling Manor School in South Croydon and the man behind the campaign joined the army.
He said: "Back in 1983 not many people travelled to other countries and during my career I have been deployed to Gibraltar, the US, Canada, Kenya, Botswana and Norway."
The Tigers will be in Croydon town centre this Friday between 9am and 5pm. For more information call 020 8688 7226 or go to www.armyjobs.mod.uk.
