The library in Ashburton park, which has been targeted by teenage yobs in recent weeks, will close its doors for the last time this Friday, ahead of a move to a new venue.

The new library will form part of the Ashburton Learning Village in Shirley Road and will be home to more than 25,000 books.

It will open on Monday, April 24, and during the three-week closure period, residents can visit any Croydon library to borrow or return books and other materials.

Adie Batt, head of library services, said: "Ashburton's library staff will be sad to leave the old building but are looking forward to being part of a vibrant learning community and welcoming old and new customers to their super new library."
