UNSUNG sporting heroes will be recognised at a ceremony at the University of Hertfordshire next month.

Herts Sports Partnership has been collecting nominations for sporting heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes in sports clubs and organisations throughout the county.

There are nominees from ten Hertfordshire districts across 22 sports categories, and there will be prizes for first, second and third place in each category. The winner of each category will be put forward to represent Hertfordshire in the BBC East Regional Sports Awards, with the possibility of being nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero award.

The ceremony, which will be sponsored by Excel Sports, is taking place on Tuesday, May 2, and is open to the public.
