A haul of 148 points would normally have been enough to guarantee promotion but it was not to be for unlucky Old Mid-Whitgiftians who will begin the 2006 season looking for better luck second time around.
Mids look to have a stronger line-up this term following some high calibre acquisitions including batsman Stewart Sales from Purley, former Old Whitgfitians captain Richard Nowell and most crucially of all Bangladeshi off-spinner Jamal Babu.
Judging by Mids' pre-season form the omens are looking good for a successful campaign. Mids recorded a six-wicket victory over Kent Division One outfit Hayes on Sunday in the first round of the Cockspur Cup.
