Several other parties are contesting wards including:
l The UK Independence Party (UKIP) has 12 candidates standing for election across the borough. Policies are available from its website www.ukip.org.
l The Green Party has 19 candidates standing across the borough but says it will focus its attention on Upper Norwood where it has been actively participating in local campaigns.
The party is vigorously contesting the ward with three candidates. and hopes many of the people who felt unable to vote Green in the general election will be able to do so in the local elections.
l The Pensions Action Alliance has six candidates standing, the People's Choice Party has four candidates seeking to represent the wards they live in, British National Party one, Croydon Ratepayers Against Croydon Council one, Communist Party of Britain one, Monster Raving Loony Party one, and independent candidate Marzia Nicodemi-Ehikioya.
