Can a town have too many shops? Current media coverage would wish us to say no but one wonders.

Croydon's Centrale shopping centre seems to remain undiscovered while at the Whitgift Centre it seems like business as usual.

My husband and I have stopped off to explore the new food court in Centrale and have been accompanied by less than half a dozen people.

This tucked away area remains unfound while food outlets in North End no doubt flourish.

The food courts in other nearby shopping centres are by and large situated in just one area the top floor for example but wasteful when planning does not quite work out. It seems more care should be given to this planning if Croydon is going to appeal to visitors and residents alike.

If there is not the means to sustain the two marvellous shopping centres we already have why threaten them by building even more?

Planners should remember that most shoppers are also workers and time is a precious commodity to everyone.

It takes a long time to make the best of our ever changing town centres and with the costs of parking added one wants quality not just quantity. Always a good motto, don't you think?
