I sympathise with Mrs Ridgen (Letters, April 26).
I can say from my own personal experience that parking authorities in Croydon seem to have a policy of by issuing unnecessary parking tickets and towing cars away, even when it is not required.
It is quite clear in the rules that a car should only be towed away if it is causing a genuine obstruction.
In Croydon they put a ticket on your car and then within five-10 minutes it is towed away.
I read an interview with a traffic warden some time ago, where he confessed they are given incentives to hand out as many parking tickets as possible.
I had my car towed away from the front of my house after a complaint, even though it was not causing any obstruction.
Not used to taking injustice lying down, I contested the council's decision and won.
The council had to refund all my money.
I would suggest Mrs Rigden does the same.
