I was delighted to learn from Raymond Rowsel that another former member of Coulsdon and Purley UDC has survived (Letters, April 26).
Although I don't recall Mr Douglas Thornton I suspect from his age that his service on the council pre-dates mine he is to be congratulated on his longevity and activity. May they both continue.
