Energy minister and Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks has applied for planning permission to have a wind turbine installed at his Croydon home.
If permission is granted for the micro wind turbine at Mr Wicks' home in West Hill, South Croydon, it could pave the way for other green-minded Croydonians to follow suit and turn to renewable energy sources as a means of powering their houses.
The earliest Croydon Council's planning office can make a decision about the turbine is May 14 and so far no objections to the application have been submitted.
