If the claims made in your front page article prove to be correct (The laughing policemen? Croydon Guardian, May 17) I hope the officers are identified and disciplined accordingly.
In the era I was brought up in we were taught to look after ourselves and of course we still try and instil this in our children.
But it feels like you are not allowed to protect yourself or your family.
Can you imagine the consequences if these young lads had stuck up for themselves and in the process hurt one of their attackers?
The police and the courts would bend over backwards to convict them, while the attackers would be likely to get away scot-free.
The law is an ass in this country. These young lads did the right thing and appear to have been let down by the police.
