I was astonished to read Matthew Brabbs' story (The laughing policemen? Croydon Guardian, May 17).
I think Matthew was brave to ask for his bus pass, keys and cards back from the youths. I think that the alleged response Matthew received from the police was terrible.
I was mugged two months ago in Selsdon, they threatened to hit me on the head with a hammer if I didn't hand over my phone.
At the time I was very scared so I just gave it to them. The police who dealt with the case were very supportive.
I think Matthew Brabbs acted in his best interests and I think if it's proved to be true the way the police reacted to the case is disgusting.
What if it happened to an elderly person?
