BNP candidate revels in Burka shame

BNP candidate Charlotte Lewis in the offending pose BNP candidate Charlotte Lewis in the offending pose

This is the true “face” of British National Party election candidate Charlotte Lewis she would rather you did not see.

As she swigs from a bottle of alcopops at a Halloween party, burka clad BNP parliamentary hopeful Miss Lewis reveals her contempt for Muslims.

The right wing activist is pictured smoking and drinking and revealing her underwear while on the night out dressed as a Muslim.

And these exclusive pictures of the woman standing as a candidate for Carshalton and Wallington, and a Croydon Council nominee, are just the start of her bigoted views.

Miss Lewis, 37, has been using her Facebook page to openly call for violence and post hate-filled racist rants about “pakis”.

Lewis has previous convictions for sending death threats to staff of Huntingdon Life Sciences and served a six month sentence in 2001 after she pleaded guilty to four charges of harassment.

Now she is using the internet to encourage others to take up her campaign of terror against what she calls “animal abusers”.

Lewis joined a Facebook group dedicated to tracking down the home address of a teen convicted of harming a cat, declaring; “I hope people turn up in the middle of the night & throw bricks through her windows - frighten the life out of her!

“The internet is great! There was no such thing as the internet when I was a kid. Now we can share information about scum.”

She went on to say: “Her brain needs to be re-programmed. She's sub-human, & not fit to breathe the same air as the rest of us. I hope she gets cancer.”

Lewis’s Facebook profile features repeated calls for foreign “paki” criminals to be executed.

In one racist rant she declares that “The Pakis that murdered Kriss Donald should be put on it (the electric chair)”.

“They were born in Glasgow I think, but their parents were from Pakistan - so they are Pakis.”

The hate-filled MP-hopeful has also targeted the head of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Trevor Philips, whose recent court proceedings forced the BNP to open their membership up to non-whites.

Lewis declared: “If that w***** Trevor Phillips died then I would open a bottle of champagne and party.”

In February 2009 Lewis lost the Croydon by-election and the BNP cash deposit when her violent animal rights background was revealed.

In 2006 she was questioned by police over possible election fraud after standing for election in Waddon.

She had placed on her nomination form an address in Lind Road, Sutton, as her home residence, which was later exposed as false.

Miss Lewis said: “I think it’s completely acceptable to dress that way. I thought it was hilarious and so did everyone at the party.

“Anyone who does not find it funny needs to develop a sense of humour.

"You can print the pictures if you want and give your readers a bit of a laugh.”

Not exactly news, though, is it? "BNP member is a moron".

She shows rare insight at one point, though... "The internet is great! There was no such thing as the internet when I was a kid. Now we can share information about scum."

Hoisted by her own petard!

Yes, Charlotte, that's right. Thanks to the internet we've been able to find out exactly who's in your nasty fascist party and through campaigns like Hope Not Hate we can tell everyone what you're really like, despite Nick Griffin's hamfisted attempts at PR.

Senses of humour not allowed in politically correct Britain. Do exactly what you're told and don't point out anything that is happening around you in case you "offend" someone. Pathetic.

I dont see a huge issue in dressing up in a Burqua and mucking about, plenty of people do fancy dress in Nuns outfits etc. However as this person is in politics then its just plain stupid and when coupled with racist abuse is totally unacceptable. I guess what im trying to say here is that its the words rather than the dressing up that is the newsworthy issue.

5:27pm Thu 15 Apr 10

Plenty of people muck about dressing up as nuns but do they also post aggressive anti-nun rhetoric on the web and have a conviction for sending death threats to other clergy they disagree with ?
Charlotte didn't dress up for comic effect but to insult Muslims and that's what amused her.
The picture makes a news story but the real problem as others have said is that despite their protestations this is the kind of person that is chosen to represent the BNP and her views are clearly theirs too but they'd rather lie than be honest.
They present themselves as the answer to all that's wrong in politics but they're just as guilty of dishonesty and racist to boot.

A number of points:-
1) Google 'Chloe O'Connor' and you will find that she did more than 'harm' a cat - she shot it dead with a cross-bow! Oh and the term 'teen' is misleading, she was 19 - ie an adult.
2) Google 'Kriss Donald' and you will find that those who murdered him (Pakistanis, for which '****' is a shortened version) abducted him then tortured him then set fire to him then left his body in waste-ground (he was still just about alive when they left him there).
3) I wore the outfit at a party where there were no Muslims present, I posted photos on Facebook where only my friends can see them, and none of them are Muslim. So Muslims have only got to see the picture by The Sutton Guardian and other publications printing them, ie I'm not the one offending Muslims.

Despite some slick presentation from the upper echelons of the BNP, the obvious conclusion is that the rank-and-file membership typically give off a strong smell of personal failure. Very similar to the kind of lost souls drawn to outfits like the Scientologists or the Moonies.

There are genuine problems and concerns over issues like immigration, but they're too important to leave to BNP cult weirdoes.

As a born Englishman I can't see anything wrong with dressing up and having an alcoholic drink at a party and displaying a sense of humour. That's my culture and I'm proud of it and I don't want any invaders to change it. But I don't want to be around smokers because of the stink they create. I also abhor cruelty to any animal including the human variety. Muslims who don't seek to dominate Christians and rest of the population must be accepted and respected the same as everyone else. The hate filled Radicals and those who demand that our legal system be replaced by Sharia Law should leave for a place where they are accepted. I don't feel comfortable with the identity and mood concealing black fancy dress when I encounter it in public and was especially upset that the police allow headscarves instead of uniform. It seems the wearers of this gear want to stand out and at the same time separate themselves from everyone else. People whose features are obscured under black tent type clothing look downright sinister and I think we should take the lead of the French Government on this. So only partial agreement from me with Ms Lewis but it is right and proper that those of us who see no hope of the mainstream parties talking a more balanced approach to immigration and threat of the Islamification of England should have a box on the ballot paper to express our disdain of the current situation knowing that BNP has no chance of getting into power. Thus the BNP and UKIP vote has the possibility of sending a powerful message to the mainstream parties to adjust their policies. I'm glad the Sutton Guardian has printed this story albeit in a damning style because it at least publicises the existence of another voting option. I hope all people can manage a sense of humour which is a social lubricant and has the power to reduce friction when feelings run high.

Filthy "journalism" never was as good as this. Did the tow-the-line-PC local rag speak to the subject? That`s what journalism is about. Talking and interviewing, not taking stuff off a website. No wonder local rags are losing sales, and paying their reporters peanuts. Worthless, puerile drivel.

Ms Lewis,

If this burka stunt is so "hilarious" then perhaps you could give it another turn in Croydon or Sutton town centres and see how many people get the joke. Add a BNP rosette for extra mirth, perhaps?

It might surprise you to discover that what is considered funny at a party of your friends is somewhat less so among the general public.

@ Michael Pantlin

Humour can often bring people together, but laughing at people you're known to despise is pretty divisive, I'd say.

@ Easternscribe

Try reading the whole article and you'll find a quotation from Ms Lewis in response the reporters at the end.

I don't see her smoking only drinking.. however if she was in fact smoking in a public place and not a private house, and there is evidence of this on a photo, she should obviously be under investigation for illegally smoking in a public place under the Health Act. Whatever the political party, we cannot have people who behave in this illegal way having any possibility of representing us (even though she has no chance I remember when Charles Kennedy was caught off for smoking out of a train window right after the Health Act came in and I was disgusted). Actually the possibility of her breaking the law on smoking concerns me a whole lot more than the burka since passive smoke does more harm than being offended by someone's choice of clothing!
