Mitcham Carnival will go football crazy this summer.

This week event organisers Merton Council announced the annual celebration would be themed on the beautiful game when it returns to Mitcham Common on June 12.

A council spokesman encouraged people to get involved with the fun by entering a float into the parade or applying to run a stall before the deadline of June 1.

Director of environment and regeneration Chris Lee said: "This year there will also be eye popping acts to keep it fresh and one of the best days out in London."

Residents should visit merton.gov.uk/mitchamcarnival for more information. For information about stall space call 020 8545 4888.
