Members of Barclays Corporate armed themselves with paintbrushes and rollers to transform the playroom at a Mayday Hospital children’s ward recently.

The benevolent bank staff raised more than £5,000 during the sponsored decorating, which saw the Rupert Bear Ward transformed with a kaleidoscope of colour.

Simon Davies, Barclays Corporate commercial director, said he was delighted with the results of the team’s hard work.

He said: “Barclays has a long tradition of supporting the local community, and the work that the team have put in today illustrate how well social responsibility in the local area can benefit so many.”

The team is one of the main sponsors of the 8th annual Croydon Charity Ball, which is being held at Crystal Palace FC’s Selhurst Park stadium on May 18.

Tables seating 10 guests are still available for the black tie event at £750 each. More details are available at croydoncommitment.co.uk.
