John Crumplin has told Walton & Hersham fans to expect a summer of movement at Stompond Lane as he looks to build a side that can challenge for promotion next season.

The Swans flattered to deceive in spells this campaign, before a dismal end to the year put paid to any Ryman Division One South play-off hopes.

And Crumplin admits he may have a very different looking squad when things kick off in August.

He said: “I am hoping to bring in up to seven players and they will nearly all be attacking players.

“Defensively I actually thought we were quite sound this season and we are pretty comfortable with what we have there.

“But we need to spruce things up up front.

“I am looking at two forwards, two wingers and two central midfielders.

“We have come across quite a few interesting players over the course of this season and I will be following that up.

“Firstly though I will be meeting the chairman later this week to discuss budgets.

“We will also be talking about what he expects from me and what I expect from him and taking things from there.”

Crumplin plans to keep his side active during the summer, with weekly sessions planned for June ahead of training starting in earnest in July.

And the Swans boss has high hopes an organisational shuffle will pay dividends.

Crumplin added: “It looks very likely we will have a reserve side next season and that will make a massive difference.

“One of the reasons we failed this season was the fact our squad was just not big enough to handle a number of injuries.

“The players that we were often drafting in were just not good enough.

“Having a reserve side will solve that and give me a lot more options.”
